Overseas Pakistanis to cast votes through internet

ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis will be able to cast their votes for their favourite candidates through internet, sub-committee of Electoral Reforms Committee said Tuesday.

Convener of the committee Law and Justice Minister Zahid Hamid told media that voting of overseas Pakistanis is possible through internet.He said the Nadra has removed the reservations of the committee about casting of votes of overseas Pakistanis through internet. The committee was also agreed to invite tenders for preparing software for the registration of overseas Pakistanis.

CNIC numbers and National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) will also be linked during the registration process. On polling day, the overseas Pakistanis will be allotted special secret codes for casting their votes.

Ballot paper will appear after submitting some secret code and answering secret questions. The overseas Pakistanis will also cast their votes through prescribed phone numbers. One vote will be cast only through one mobile phone number.
