57 students injured in stampede as earthquake strikes Battagram

BATTAGRAM: At least 57 children were injured in a stampede at a school in Battagram as a 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit the city and surrounding areas on Monday morning.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the students were injured as they rushed to climb down from the third storey of the school building when the earthquake struck.

Three children received major injuries and were taken to DHQ Hospital, according to PDMA. The others sustained minor injuries and were provided medical aid at the

school.
The earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was 15 km deep, said the Met office. Its epicentre was near Mingora.
