LAHORE: Residents protested on Thursday against a private institution’s earlier notice 'banning use of Punjabi language' on school premises.

According to protesters, they will not tolerate disrespect of Punjabi language.

Following which the private institution accepted its mistake and tendered an apology over the notice.

Earlier, a circular was issued by the Sahiwal chapter in which it was stated "Foul language is not allowed within and outside the school premises, in the morning, during the school hours and after home time. Foul language includes taunts, abuses, Punjabi and hate speech.”

Later on, after much protest the institution's administration clarified that by Punjabi they meant curse words in language, something the respective school's head forgot to mention in the circular.

Reportedly, the institution has rescinded the notification earlier issued.
