His wish to meet Malala fulfilled, Anwar loses fight against cancer

17-year-old Anwar Ullah whose wish to meet Malala came true last year lost a lifelong battle with cancer this week.

Anwar, who had been fighting a rare form of lung cancer, succumbed to the disease but not before having his one true wish fulfilled: to meet Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousufzai.

The teen’s wish was made possible by Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan and Make-A-Wish Foundation UK in November 2015 when he was flown from Karachi to Birmingham, where Malala resides with her family.

Anwar considered Malala to be his hero because of her bravery and passion for children's education. She inspired him to never give up and keep fighting the challenges.

During their meeting Malala gave him flowers and a signed copy of her book. The two of them sat down and talked and played board games.

After the visit, Anwar had said with a smile on his face, "My dream has come true."
