Work can definitely be hard at times. However, one man in Japan took the drastic measure of stabbing himself in order to get a day off.

Fifty-four-year-old Masaru Miura, resident of Kasugai in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, reportedly stabbed himself in the hip in the bathroom of a Nagoya Municipal Subway station on February 22, reports Japankyo.com

Later, he went to a police station near the vicinity and registered a false complaint that he was attacked by an unknown man, according to Asahi.

While awaiting treatment, the man finally caved in and confessed to the police that he had lied and had stabbed himself to get a day off.

He is reported to have said "I didn't want to go to work, so I did it. If I got hurt I thought I would not have to go to work."

He explained to the police that he found a knife near the subway ticket counter and took the drastic step due to work stress. The police arrested him for filing a false complaint.

Working overtime and high levels of stress at work place is a major issue in the country.
