NEPRA approves electricity price reduction on account of fuel price adjustment

Fuel cost estimated for May was Rs6.77 but stayed at Rs4.87

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has approved the reduction in electricity price by Rs1.90 per unit on account of fuel adjustment of May.

A hearing over the request of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) for the fuel adjustment of May was held in Islamabad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of NEPRA Chairperson Tariq Sadozai. The CPPA has requested that the price of per unit electricity be slashed by Rs1.89.

During the hearing, it was said that the fuel cost estimated for May was Rs6.77 but it stayed at Rs4.87.

Therefore, the Nepra chairperson approved the reduction in electricity price.
