KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Monday that the Pakistan People’s Party is playing tricks, adding that it will not support his party as it was earlier claiming to.

The federal minister for Railways Rafique passed these comments in Geo News Programme “Aaj Shahzaib Khanzada Kay Sath”.

He said that the PPP is primarily focused on the elections which are 10 months away, adding that the party will not extend support to the PML-N if the time calls for it.

“The PPP’s main competition is with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to gain the voter base of the PML-N in the next elections,” he said.

When asked if the PML-N would take to streets in case the Panama case’s decision does not come in its favour, the federal minister said that if the party feels that justice hasn’t been done, it would consider other options rather than resorting to violence or agitation.

Earlier, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari urged Nawaz to tell the people regarding the ‘conspiracy’ so that other political parties stand up in support of democracy. PPP leaders also reiterated the same stance that the premier discloses the names of those hatching a conspiracy.

PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira had said that if any schemes against democracy were being hatched then the PPP should be made aware.

“We have asked several times who is carrying out conspiracies against you, if there is any conspiracy against democracy tell us…we will save democracy…[but] the prime minister is not telling us anything,” the former minister had said.

Saad Rafique had also called Panama Papers a “foreign sponsored conspiracy” targeting Pakistan.
