Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman awarded Legion of Merit by Turkey

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman was awarded the Legion of Merit in Istanbul on Tuesday in recognition of his services for promotion of defence ties between the two air forces.

The award was conferred at an impressive ceremony held at the Turkish Air Force Headquarters.

Earlier, on arrival at the Turkish Air Force Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of the Turkish Air Force presented him with a guard of honour.

Later, he called on General Abidin Unal, Commander Turkish Air Force at his office.

Both the dignitaries discussed matters of professional and mutual interests.

The Air Chief highlighted the Pakistan Air Force's key role in ongoing counter terrorism operations in Pakistan.

He also reiterated enhancing cooperation with Turkey in the fields of security, training and information technology.

General Abidin Unal, Commander Turkish Air Force, lauded the role played by PAF in the success of operation Zarb-e-Azb.

He also thanked the Air Chief for enhancing defence ties between both countries.

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force also met Dr. Ismail Demir, Undersecretary for Defence Industries (SSM) during his visit.

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman is presently on an official visit to Turkey on the invitation of Turkish Air Force.
