ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif reiterated on Tuesday Pakistan's stance that there is no military solution to the Afghan conflict.

Addressing the opening session of a three-day conference at the Foreign Office, Asif also insisted on the need to highlight continuing human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir on all available international platforms.

The conference of selected Pakistani envoys is being held to brainstorm important foreign policy issues.

The participants are discussing potential strengths of the country’s foreign policy and options available in view of the geo-political and regional situation, according to sources.

The new US policy on Afghanistan war, the challenges arising as a result of the revised US approach towards the region, and the Kashmir dispute are taking centre stage at the meeting.

At the meeting, the foreign minister also sought recommendations from the envoys present at the meeting regarding the prevailing geo-political situation.

Among those attending the conference are Pakistan's envoys from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Belgium.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is set to chair the concluding session of the moot.
