Sattar gets into argument with Parliament House security over PM’s protocol

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar on Thursday got into an argument with a member of the prime minister's escort team.

After a security officer requested Sattar to make way for Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the Parliament House today, Sattar retorted back and said that the public, not parliamentarians, should be removed for the premier's security.

"He [Abbasi] is a prime minister, not a king that you will be fired," Sattar responded to the security official who had told the MQM-P leader that his job was at stake if the former didn't comply.

Sattar, along with other parliamentarians, was exiting a parliamentary session when all hallways linked to the chamber were restricted as a part of Abbasi's protocol.  

Last month, two police officers were suspended for using abusive language and assaulting a citizen who was reportedly taking pictures of a VIP protocol on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

The video of the incident was viral on the social media, showing a policeman misbehaving with a citizen over making a video of the security protocol. The police, however, did not give the name of the government official who the said squad was providing security.
