Geo News obtains CCTV footage of drive-by shooting at PSP's Karachi office

KARACHI: Geo News has obtained the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of Monday night's attack on the Pak Sarzameen Party's (PSP) town office in Gulbahar area of the metropolis.
In the video clip, the six suspects, who are yet to be identified, can be seen opening fire on the political party's office, causing workers to flee in panic.
Also, considering the manner in which the assailants are observed leaving in the video, authorities are now searching nearby buildings and apartments in hopes that they may find some clues as to who the shooters were.
Two PSP workers were killed and two others were injured in a drive-by shooting Monday night. The gunmen had arrived on three bikes to attack the PSP's Usmania Colony office, highlighting that target-killing is once again on the rise.
The deceased — identified as Naeem and Azhar — had succumbed to their injuries during medical treatment after they were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
As news of the shooting had spread, a heavy contingent of security personnel had reached the crime scene.
Party Chairperson Mustafa Kamal, while speaking to the media later at the hospital, had said: "The blood of these workers is on the hands of those who created the new MQM [Muttahida Qaumi Movement]."
However, Dr Muhamamd Amin Yousufzai, the deputy inspector-general (DIG) of police for the West Zone, had commented that it would be premature to make any comments about the suspects involved in the incident.
It is noteworthy that two terrorists, who belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) and were arrested by Rangers, had confessed during questioning to planning an attack on Azhar, one of the two party workers who died in last night's attack.
Both Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail and MQM-Pakistan chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui had strongly condemned the fatal incident, while the additional IG for Karachi, Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh, took notice of the incident and consequently summoned a detailed report from Muhammad Arif Aslam, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for the Central district.
