ISLAMABAD: Newly appointed Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Monday that PM Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar are on the same page.

The special assistant to prime minister was addressing media after meeting the CM Punjab, who seems to be in peril following a major cabinet shuffle last week, according to news making rounds.

She said that there has been concerns regarding the style of governance of Buzdar but all the Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) have expressed confidence on his performance.

Awan reiterated that Usman Buzdar has the confidence of the majority, adding that Punjab is a stronghold of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

On Sunday, sources reported that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan could be a strong contender for the post of Punjab chief minister if Usman Buzdar is removed from office.

Sources earlier said Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to present him a list of provincial ministers who he believes are not performing as per expectations, a few days after a major reshuffle in his federal cabinet.

The premier reportedly gave a roadmap to the chief minister to assess the performance of provincial cabinet members and warned that he will not compromise over performance in Punjab.
