PML-N leaders meet Nawaz in London

The PML-N leaders met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the Avenfield Apartments after their meeting at the Maroush Gardens. Ex-foreign minister Khawaja Asif said while speaking to media that an in-house change needed to take place first if elections are to be held.

Asif said that he had consulted Shehbaz on the political developments that had taken place over the past week.

Last month, the government decided to extend the tenure of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as army chief. The Supreme Court allowed the government to extend General Bajwa's tenure by six months and to decide for how long the army chief will be given an extension.

For that, the government will need a majority vote in both houses of the parliament. Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak and Foreign Minister Qureshi both said recently that the government will consult opposition parties before starting the legislation.
