As the tech environment grows competitive with artificial intelligence (AI) products challenging the dominance of giant companies, US smartphone behemoth Apple is in talks to incorporate Google's Gemini into its search engine.

Bloomberg News citing sources reported that the negotiations are underway regarding the licensing of Gemini for some new features coming to the iPhone software this year, mentioning that the deal would likely be closed by June.

It is the time when Apple is looking to organise its yearly conference of developers.

The report also noted that the "terms or branding of an AI agreement or how it would be implemented have not been decided".

As the news broke out, the stocks of Google’s parent company Alphabet surged to 5% in premarket trading in the US.

The report noted that the company maker also recently held talks with OpenAI — ChatGPT maker — about seeking assistance with its AI-powered chatbot.

If the deal is closed, over two billion active Apple users would benefit from the decision, reinvigorating confidence among investors who started pulling their money from the firm causing its shares to fall by 10% this year.

The move would also assuage the fears of Alphabet as it was threatened by the ChatGPT substituting Google's search dominance.
