Karachi: Six injured in Lyari unrest
KARACHI: Six people were injured in firing incidents in different areas of Lyari including Hanguabad and Agra Taj Colony on Monday, Geo News reported Monday.

According to police, Lyari, Kharadar and neighboring areas reverberated with heavy gunfire and explosions as unrest continued in the troubled area of metropolis.

At least ten back-to-back hand grenade attacks shook Khadda Market and nearby areas late night while firing continued in Naya Abad, Moosa Lane, ICI Bridge and Kharadar areas. The miscreants also used rockets and bombs in the clashes injuring five persons, witnesses told.

No loss of life and property has been reported from the hand grenade attacks so far.

The residents remained trapped indoors for the third consecutive day while shops and businesses remained closed due to the deteriorating situation. Intermittent firing continued in various areas.

Also, eight persons were held after police launched search operation in Patel Para and adjoining areas. Police sources told that arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

Police also claimed that the accused belonged to a banned outfit and a political party who are currently being interrogated.
