SC hears PIA irregularities case
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary hopes the new government would conduct a fair inquiry into irregularities in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

A three-member bench headed by the CJ was hearing the PIA irregularities case.

Attorney General Munir A Malik told the court that directives were to be taken from the Prime Minister in connection with posting of PIA Managing Director and Chairman.

The CJ said that the PIA had been facing corruption, maladministration and overwhelming appointments.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that traveling had become difficult for the people given the situation in railways and PIA.

The Chief Justice said that if government didn’t appoint the permanent chairman and managing director for the PIA, the court would give the decision.

Munir A Malik told the court that this issue would be brought into the consideration of the authorities concerned and the government would take these issues seriously.

The hearing was adjourned till June 24.
