KARACHI: Residents of Lyari protested against the continuing violence and targeted killings in the area, Geo News reported.

Protesters blocked Mauripur road and set ablaze two trailers, bringing traffic to a grinding halt. Many of the vehicles stuck in the log jam were looted while the protestors also pelted stones damaging the vehicles as the police witness the unrest as silent spectators. A bus conductor was killed during the protest.

While the protest continued, the police encountered criminals in lanes number 9 and 10 near Mauripur road. In the ensuing exchange of fire, DSP Shakeel and two constables were injured.

Rangers were summoned to control the situation. Meanwhile SSP City Tariq Dharejo said, that the operation would continue until all pickets and road blocks had been removed.
