Essential to maintain ceasefire at LoC: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed the desire for peace in the region and maintain the ceasefire at the Line of Control (LoC).

Foreign Office spokesman, Aizaz Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stressed the need to use existing bilateral military and political channels to ease tensions and promote peace between India and Pakistan.

Chaudhry in a statement added that Indian forces had opened unprovoked firing at a Pakistan Rangers check post in Sialkot sector and Pakistani forces had retaliated with caution and responsibility.
