No decision on fate of the region possible sans Pak participation
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Wednesday said that any decision regarding the fate of the region could not be taken without Pakistan’s participation, as Pakistan was the hub of economy and politics in the region and being a nuclear country it was a power in the region to reckon with, which was now being reconised internationaly also, Geo News reported.

Addressing a flag hoisting ceremony at the Convention Centre here, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif welcomed and thanked the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon for making it convenient to visit Pakistan on such an august day, which was so close to the hearts of every Pakistani.

The prime minister said that unfortunately Pakistan today was plagued by the menace of extremism and terrorism and added that such trials and tribulations do come in the life of the nations.

He said it was day of reckoning and self-accountability also for us. We must learn from our past mistakes and strive for bringing peace and prosperity in the country by defeating the terrorists with the all out efforts of the nation and the armed forces of Pakistan.

PM Nawaz Sharif said that our association with the world peace was no secret; Pakistan has been devoutly observing the Charter of the United Nations.

The prime minister vowed making Pakistan a progressive and welfare state in accordance with the vision of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the dreams and thoughts of our national poet Allama Iqbal.
