Dhoom 3 makes fastest Rs100 crore, may create Rs300 crore club
MUMBAI: After a grand opening, Aamir Khan’s recent release continues to climb the box-office ladder. With the weekend collections now in, Dhoom:3 has become the fastest Bollywood film to cross the Rs.100 crore mark (in just three days).

Needless to say, trade experts are now expecting it to break many more records.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh explains, "Aamir is a true game changer. Ghajini (2008) was the first to make Rs.100 crore. Then 3 idiots (2009) became the first to touch the Rs.200 crore marks. Now the business (of Dhoom:3) will only increase because this is the Christmas week."

Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi points out that, as of now, the film has no competition until the Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho releases in January 2014. "If D3 continues performing the way it currently is, it might just inch towards being the first Hindi film to score a triple century,” says Rathi, adding, "When it comes to striking a balance between commercial and non-mainstream cinema, Aamir is the torchbearer."

"The movie is still doing good business. Dec 25 is Christmas, so the demand for the tickets is more. But the movie is doing well on weekdays too. It surely has the potential to cross Rs.250 crore this week," Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines said.

"The movie has done really well and is expected to do good business in the coming weeks as well. For Dec 25 alone we have sold 4,000 tickets that means we have already sold 50 percent of our tickets as our capacity is of 8,000," said Punit Sahay, senior manager programming, Spice Cinemas. Spice Cinemas, Delhi has already booked 4,000 tickets for Christmas.
