LHWP announces halt to country-wide polio-drive
LAHORE: The Lady Health Workers Programme (LHWP) has announced suspension of the polio vaccination campaign across the country, hours after the killing and kidnapping of their workers in Karachi on Tuesday.

Rukhsana Anwar, president LHWP made the announcement while talking Geo News.

She said after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South/North Waziristan, the polio workers were now being targeted and killed in Karachi. “The polio workers will not resume work across Pakistan until the killers are arrested,” she said.

She regretted that the Taliban were murdering the polio workers who have to work on a daily wage of meager Rs200 and the government remains a silent spectator.

Rukhsana Anwar said a call for country-wide peaceful protest has been give for Wednesday.
