Najam Sethi appointed PCB chairman
LAHORE: Najam Sethi has been appointed chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by the management committee formed following the sacking of Zaka Ashraf.

Sethi’s appointment came after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif acting as patron-in-chief approved an amendment to the PCB constitution paving the way for the governing board to be dissolved and Ashraf being sacked.

The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

The eight-member management committee comprising Shehriyar Khan, Najam Sethi, Zaheer Abbas, Iqbal Qasim, Shakil Sheikh, Naveed Akram, Yousaf Khokhar and Amir Tariq Zaman will run the board’s affairs.

Speaking to media, Sethi said the committee had been tasked with formulating a new constitution for the PCB.

After Ashraf's earlier sacking in May 2013, Sethi was appointed as chairman of the PCB. But his tenure hit a snag after another court ruling curtailed his powers.

Sharif last October imposed an ad hoc setup on the PCB and Sethi took over as chairman of an interim committee.

That situation changed again when a two-man division bench of the Islamabad High Court reinstated Ashraf last month.
