Govt to begin power projects of up to 10000 MW soon: Dar
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance, Ishaq Dar Monday announced that the government was poised to begin work on power projects with a generation capacity of 8000 to 10000 mega watts electricity.

In a meeting with British Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening in Washington, Ishaq Dar hoped the first phase of Bhasha Diamer dam construction would be completed within the next four years.

“The incumbent government has worked out a comprehensive strategy to overcome the energy crisis,” he told the British Secretary of State.

He said the government hoped to generate about 2 to 2.5 billion dollars through privatization by September this year.

Justine Greening on the occasion termed improvement in Pakistan’s tax collection as a welcome development.

Dar also had a meeting with the officials of the international rating agency, Standard and Poors.

They told the Finance Minister that if Pakistan economy maintains its march towards a consistent growth its international rating can be expected to improve further.
