PTI against ban on any channel, says Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has condemned attack on Geo News anchorperson Hamid Mir and said his party is against restrictions on freedom of media besides ban on any channel, Geo News reported.

Imran Khan presided over meeting of party’s core committee here on Thursday.

The PTI’s core committee regretted that the government has failed to arrest culprits involved in attacks on journalists, adding owing to this failure targeted attacks on media men are increasing.

The committee praised the struggle of media for its freedom, saying that PTI supports freedom of media.

It further said if the government had made the institutions strong and active, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) would have played its due role.
