Power shortfall exceeds 6,000 MW
LAHORE: The electricity crisis continues its tight grip on Pakistan as the power shortfall in the country has exceeded 6,000 MW.

Unannounced load shedding in small and rural cities of Punjab has risen to 20 hours, according to PEPCO sources.

Meanwhile in Lahore and major cities of the province, there is load shedding after every hour. A two hour increase in the load shedding schedule has also been announced for industrial and commercial consumers. PEPCO sources attribute the shortage in oil supply to the increase in load shedding.

Kot Lakpat and Sundar Industrial Estate has threatened to strike if unannounced load shedding is not decreased. The central leader for Kot Lakpat Industrial Estate, Muhammad Nadeem Chaudhry told Geo News that one out of three shifts at mills had been discontinued and they were being forced to come out onto the streets.
