MULTAN: Senior politician, Javed Hashmi, on Wednesday resigned from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Hashmi who served as the PTI President announced his decision during a news conference held at his Multan residence. Hashmi said he had resigned due to PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s undemocratic behaviour. The senior politician added that he had sent his resignation letter to Imran Khan.

Hashmi said he wanted to respond to the show-cause notice during the PTI Multan rally but Imran Khan announced yesterday that he (Hashmi) would not be invited.

Javed Hashmi further said that Imran Khan was being misguided by those close to him. Hashmi cautioned Khan that the PTI’s ‘bad days’ had arrived due to the inclusion of hypocrites.

“Imran wants to bury the PTI and if Shah Mehmood Qureshi has courage he should resign and contest the election.”

Hashmi also informed reporters that he had not met Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif.

Javed Hashmi had been served a show-cause notice by PTI General Secretary Jehangir Tareen stating his suspension. A reply from Hashmi had been summoned on September 29.

After his fallout with Imran Khan, the senior political also resigned from his National Assembly seat. The PML-N has announced its support for Hashmi in the NA-149 by-election.
