Pakistan will be polio free in six months: PM Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that Pakistan will be polio free in six months.

Addressing the Steering Committee for the Eradication of Polio meeting, Prime Minister Sharif said negligence in eradicating polio was considered a crime. The prime minister directed provinces to take effective measures for the elimination of polio.

The prime minister formed the anti-polio committee of the federal cabinet comprising the Defence, Health and Interior ministers. At the meeting attended by the Chief Ministers of all the four provinces Prime Minister Sharif reiterated that the government would leave no stone unturned to eradicate Polio from Pakistan.

An anti-polio focus group was also formed during the meeting which would present a report to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif every 15 days.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with the chief ministers of all four provinces to discuss strategies for eliminating polio.
