Sindh raises SSU to combat terrorism
KARACHI: Sindh police have set up a highly equipped Special Security Unit (SSU) with an aim to counter the threats posed by terrorists.

Laced with modern weapons, the special security unit will bring to reality the concept of tackling the terrorists with an iron fist.

Sturdy-looking, tall and equipped with automatic arms, the muscled men of this unit hold high aims with a strong ambition to make a big difference when it comes crushing the terrorists.

Not only men but women are also part of this highly trained commando force.

In order to keep the process of selecting the recruits for this force transparent, the mechanism of National Testing System was used. The successful candidates were put through physical, academic and psychological tests. Later, they were made to complete a tough cycle of training under the supervision of qualified trainers

On completion, their salaries were fixed at Rs40,000 per month.

Recently, Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif not only visited the stall of SSU set up at the international defence exhibition in Karachi but also admired this force.

How effective the force really is, the people will know when they begin to perform their duties on the ground.
