ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Babar on Monday demanded of the government to sack Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) cleric Moulana Abdul Aziz, saying ‘Jihadi infrastructure in the country needs to be dismantled’.

Speaking in the senate, Farhatullah Babar said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had presented a security policy but he didn’t allocate budget for the same.

Mr Babar said Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has the same agenda that is pursued by the Nigeria’s Boko Haram and Iraq-Syria based Daesh (ISIS), urging the civilian leadership to lead the war against terrorism.

“Seminaries behind promoting extremism should be tracked down”, PPP senator asserted.

On the other hand, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senator Tahir Mashadi said the incumbent government has no courage to stop the cleric of a state-run mosque while he also continues to reside in the government allotted house.

Without naming anyone, the MQM senator said “someone would once again resort to wearing a Burqa, if the Army launched a crackdown”.
