Karachi timber market fire extinguished after ten hours
KARACHI: A fire which erupted in the timber market area near Old Haji Camp was extinguished after ten hours.

The fire erupted on Saturday night and was declared as a third-degree inferno as fire tenders from across Karachi were called to extinguish the blaze.

The fire also engulfed adjacent buildings, forcing the residents to evacuate in order to protect themselves.

Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the incident and urged the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements to put out the inferno.

Altaf expressed outrage over the Sindh government, saying that the ministers were sleeping after taking pills.

MQM chief further said the provincial government had no such arrangements to douse the fire.

He appealed government officials and water tanker office-bearers to come forward to protect the lives of masses.

Talking to Geo News, Chief Fire Officer Ehtesham Uddin said owing to congested streets of timber market and strong air they were facing difficulties in dousing fire, however, they have limited it.
