PM Nawaz Sharif grieved over Karachi fire incident

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Sunday expressed his grief over the fire incident at Timber Market, Karachi in which several shops and houses were gutted.

The Premier directed the provincial government to ensure quick response to events of this nature.

The fire had erupted in the storage house for wood which engulfed the surrounding shops and residential buildings. The fire fighters were called out from across the city which overcame the blaze after a firefighting effort that lasted for many hours till morning.

Huge losses were caused, as the fire not only gutted the shops but burned to ashes the belongings of people in the residential buildings.

The fire also inflicted severe damage to the buildings, raising concerns of the residents if the buildings structures were still solid and inhabitable.
