Terror free Pakistan now a national resolve, says COAS
RAWALPINDI: A Corps Commanders’ conference was held on Tuesday at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, under the chair of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.

Professional matters were discussed during the meeting, while participants also dwelt at length on the internal and external security situation in the country.

Progress of Operation Zarb-e-Azb was also reviewed, as well as ongoing Information Based Operations (IBOs) in the country.

Speaking to the forum, the COAS said that with overwhelming support of the entire nation, Operation Zarb-e-Azb has inflicted significant damage on terrorists.

Emphasising the continued precise targeting of terrorists squeezed in isolated pockets in FATA, the COAS directed all concerned to intensify IBOs against criminals, terrorists and their abettors in urban areas for enduring peace in the country.

The conference also took serious notice of RAW’s involvement in whipping up terrorism in Pakistan.

Gen. Sharif went on to say that terror free Pakistan is now a national resolve and that thousands of innocent Pakistanis including children have been martyred by terrorists.

“Law Enforcement Agencies and our brave armed forces have given lots of sacrifices in fighting these misguided and hardened criminals to safeguard a peaceful and better future for our next generation.”

He further said these sacrifices will not go waste and that the war would be taken to its logical conclusion.

“Dignity and honour of our country, its people and gallant armed forces will be safe guarded at all costs,” he added.

The COAS also said that the surge against terrorists and criminals is apolitical, across the board and focused to achieve peace in the country.
