DSP gunned down in Karachi
KARACHI: Unknown gunmen shot dead a senior police official in Shah Faisal Colony area of the city on late Saturday night.

According to reports, DSP Zulfiqar Zaidi, a security in-charge of the Sindh Hight Court, was targeted near Eidgah Ground.

A security guard also sustained injuries in the armed attack that killed the DSP. The body and the injured were taken to a hospital.

Prime Minister, Sindh CM, SHC take notice

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the murder and sought a report into the attack.

The prime minister has ordered the Sindh government to further improve the security arrangements in the metropolis.

He said that police have a vital role in establishing peace in the city. Reacting over the killing, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said Karachi-operation with continue regardless of all the difficulties, adding that sacrifices rendered by security officials and the police will bring fruits.

Chief Justice Zindh High Court Faisal Arab has summoned IG Sindh with a report into the murder on Monday.

Director General Sindh Rangers reacts over the murder

DG Sindh Rangers issued a statement late Saturday night, expressing the resolve that the paramilitary force will bring murderers of martyred policemen to book.

“The Rangers hold police sacrifices in high regard, and the department is the key law enforcement institution which has rendered sacrifices for peace in Karachi,” the statement said.

He said that the Rangers have been operating in collaboration with the Sindh Police to main law and order.
