Sindh Assembly adopts resolutions against Altaf Hussain
KARACHI: Resolutions against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain were approved by majority in the Sindh Assembly on Friday.

The resolutions were tabled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N).

The resolution by the PTI condemned statements of Altaf Hussain asking for intervention by foreign institutions and countries in the internal matters of Pakistan and statements against the Pakistan Army and Sindh Rangers.

Altaf Hussain’s statements asking for the breakup of Sindh have also been strongly condemned in the resolution.

The resolution calls on the House to recommend to the Sindh government to approach the Federal government for strong action against Altaf Hussain for objectionable utterances and take legal action against him.

The resolution tabled by the PML-F condemned remarks made by Altaf Hussain. It stated that the negative propaganda being created against national interest specially the Pakistan Army is strongly rejected.

‘The demand for intervening of NATO forces and other external elements coming from an individual who has been away from Pakistan since more than a decade and is a dual national is also rejected as nothing but a call for national disintegration.’

The resolution further called for strong legal action from Provincial as well as Federal government.

Following the resolutions being adopted the session was adjourned by speaker Aga Siraj Durrani till August 10.

The resolutions against the MQM chief were supported by PPP. Sindh’s Information Minister Nisar Khuhro condemned the statements by Altaf Hussain and told reporters the Federal government should take action against him.

MQM leader Sardar Ahmed said rules were not followed over the resolutions against Altaf Hussain. He added at the Sindh Assembly speaker did not listen to his party’s stance over the matter.
