It is my right to seek answers from ECP, says Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said it was his right to seek answers from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In an interview with Shahzeb Khanzada, PTI Chairman Imran Khan responded to the ECP which said he had insulted a constitutional body. Khan said: “if a constitutional body was involved in corruption should it be spared?”

Following the report by the three-judge poll inquiry commission, the PTI chairman had written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner calling for action against ECP officials and Returning Officers.

The ECP wrote in its response to the PTI today that the commission is an independent, constitutional body and is not answerable to any political party.

The PTI chairman said the ECP’s response on the matter was similar to when politicians claim they are being politically victimized after being caught for corruption.

Imran Khan said he had only put forward questions raised by the judicial commission in his letter to the ECP. He added the PTI would consult with other parties including the PML-N for action to be taken against corrupt ECP officials.

“If we are not provided insaf (justice) I will hold a sit-in outside the ECP,” Khan said.
