MQM's Rasheed Godil to be discharged from hospital soon
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senior leader Abdul Rasheed Godil will be discharged from hospital soon, said a spokesman for the hospital where the injured leader is being treated.

The spokesman said that the injured leader's wounds were healing quickly and that his condition had improved significantly since he was brought to the hospital following a failed assassination attempt on his life earlier this month.

Godil, who has been under treatment at a local hospital after suffering multiple bullet wounds in the gun attack, regained consciousness last week and was shifted from the surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a ward in the hospital.

Four attackers on motorcycles had opened fire on Godil's vehicle in the Bahadurabad area of Karachi on August 18, critically wounding him and killing his driver. Doctors said the MQM leader was shot five times in the jaw, chin and chest.

But, after regaining consciousness, Godil told police that he could neither see the assailants nor did he know how many attacked him. Officials say Godil is yet to formally record his police statement.
