Rangers operation to go on as it is: Maula Bakhsh Chandio

KARACHI: Sindh Advisor for Information, Maula Bakhsh Chandio on Saturday said the Karachi operation against the criminal elements will continue as before.

“There is no truth in the way situation is being presented to the people,” Chandio said in a statement issued here today.

He said some political parties conspired to stir a storm in a teacup by using the issue of Rangers powers. If they really wish to grant accountability powers to the Rangers, then the paramilitary force should get the same powers in Punjab as well, he said.

“Rangers should also get the powers to arrest officers in the Punjab province,” Maula Bakhsh Chandio snapped.

He said complete authority will be handed to the local governments under the local government system.

“If some parties are still obsessed with the Musharraf era, they must know that the past never comes back,” he said, adding the provincial governments were almost non-existent in Musharraf’s regime.
