PM terms opposition's pro-democratic stand as 'historic'
ISLAMABAD: Appreciating a joint statement aired by the opposition parties for upholding the democratic norms and Constitution, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Wednesday termed their stand as historic.

"Their stand is reflective of political maturity of the country's political forces and a good omen for the democracy and future of the country," he said in his reaction to the stand jointly made public by the opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jamaiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan Milli Awami Party and others.

He said no hindrance will be tolerated in the way of holding the general elections.

"Consultations will be held with the political parties on all matters relating to the polls," the Prime Minister assured.

Earlier, the country's main political parties representing the opposition held a meeting and expressed a joint resolve to thwart any move aimed at derailment of the democratic process and is in clash with the Constitution.
