Three including cop ambushed to death in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: At least three people including a policeman and two real brothers were killed in an ambush here on Thursday night, Geo News reported.

Sources said some Elite Force commandoes and other agents were waylaid when they were on their way to conduct a raid in Katarian, a suburb of Rawalpindi.

The shooting claimed the life of an Elite Force ASI, Hasan Naeem, while it left another officer, Asad, critically bullet-wounded.

Men of law were not the only ones who succumbed to this surprise attack. According to sources, two blood brothers, namely Jamshed and Sajjad also got killed in the ambush. Questions like whether they were cops or agents or none of the two and what were they doing with a police party on a special mission yet begged answers.

The dead bodies were in the Holy Family Hospital for medicoleagl procedures, sources told Geo News.

Police have jumpstarted the investigation into the case by arresting one, Malik Shumail, a real uncle of the deceased brothers. Cops handcuffed him right in the hospital as soon as he arrived there, sources said.

He was in the first wave of the relatives who showed up at the hospital after the word of ambush reached them.
