Pakistani prisoner attacked in Indian jail
SRINAGAR: A police official in Indian Occupied Kashmir says that a Pakistani prisoner in a local jail has been ``grievously'' injured after being beaten by another inmate, a former Indian Army soldier.

Friday's attack comes a day after a convicted Indian spy Sarabjit died after being bludgeoned with a brick by fellow inmates at a Pakistani prison a week ago.

The official, who cannot be named because he does not have permission to speak to reporters, says the prisoner, Sanaullah, is in critical care in a hospital in Jammu city.

Sanaullah, who goes by one name, was imprisoned in 1999 and in 2009 sentenced to life in prison for being a Pakistani militant operating in Indian Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the Indian External Affairs Ministry has allowed access to the Pakistani High Commission and the Jail superintendent has been suspended.
