Bilawal criticizes PML-N govt for ‘setting Musharraf free’

KARACHI: Taking a jibe at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Thursday said his party leadership stripped former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf of his powers and what has PML-N done, ‘set him free?.’

“SMBB [Benazir Bhutto] deprived him from his real power: his uniform.AZ threw him out of Presidency. What did you do? Set him free?” he posted on Twitter soon after the press conference of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar concluded in which he announced the  government’s decision of allowing Musharraf to travel abroad.

In a media statement issued earlier today, Bilawal had said allowing ‘dictator’ Pervez Musharraf to leave the country was tantamount to shredding the law of the land to pieces.

He said there were a number of cases pending against Pervez Musharraf.

“He (Musharraf) is also nominated in the murder case of my mother Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and despite repeated summons he chose not to appear before the court,” he added.

Musharraf’s treason case is also under trial and it is being said that the trial is in its final phase. “Even in this case Musharraf had been reluctant to appear before the court,” he added.

“If Musharraf is allowed to escape from the country, the pending cases will never come to their logical conclusion nor will the legal requirements be fulfilled,” Bilawal had warned.
