18-year-old confesses to killing employer's children in Karachi

KARACHI: Siblings Hina and Misra, aged 12 and seven, and their cousin Ali, must have cried for help when they were strangled to death in the comfort of their home on Tuesday. All for making fun of a helper their father had hired to assist the family catering business.

In a grisly confession made to the police on Wednesday, 18-year old Hasnain accepted that he had killed the three children at a house at sector 10, Orangi Town because “they made fun of him”.

The children were alone in the house when Hasnain strangled them to death, and then stole Rs400,000 from the house, and fled.

A relative claimed that Hasnain murdered the girls first, and when Ali arrived minutes later with a box of sweet Jalebis for his sister, he was killed too.

No one knew of the deaths, until a relative arrived hours later. Instead of being welcome by the scampering little feet, he was greeted by their bodies.

The bodies were first rushed to Qatar Hospital and then Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. “It is difficult to say anything about the reason for murder yet,” SSP West Azfar Mahesar said. Police has recovered the stolen money.

Sharifuddin, the father of the children staged a protest outside the hospital for delay in the postmortem report. The anguished family also beat up the medico legal officer.

Sharifuddin added that Hasnain often remained absent from work. "I had scolded him for his carelessness."

Speaking to the media, the family, appealed for justice. "We want justice. He should be hanged to death."

Police awarded for efficient investigation

The Inspector General Police Sindh appreciated the efficiency of the team investigating the incident. He announced a prize of Rs100,000 for the police officers' team who arrested the alleged murder.

The police officers will also be awarded certificates of appreciation, SSP West Azfar Mahesar said.
