Our politics is of development, not street agitation: PM Nawaz

KOTLI SATTIYAN: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said his politics was the politics of development aiming at ending poverty and bringing prosperity to the country.

“We do not believe in the politics of sit-ins that is detrimental for the country and revolves around blatant lies,” the Prime Minister said in his address to the public gathering here at tehsil Kotli Sattiyan.

Prime Minister Sharif said his government had always served the country selflessly and would continue to do so, adding that he did not intend to focus his speech on criticizing anyone but to focus on the development of Pakistan.

He said he had a vision of a developed and prosperous country equipped with facilities of education and health.

“China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would be a game changer for the development of the country,” said the premier adding that Pakistan would soon get its lost stature in the comity of nations.

The Prime Minister said the objective of his visit was to provide financial assistance to the people affected by floods and landslides.

After giving away cheques among the affected persons, Prime Minister Sharif directed the commissioner of the area to ensure that all affected persons get compensatory cheques and report him within 24 hours.

Nawaz Sharif said during three years of his government the shortage of electricity had been reduced to a great extent and vowed to end it by 2018. He mentioned that several power houses were being set up under the CPEC project to overcome the electricity shortage.

The Prime Minister assured the people of Kotli Sattiyan of provision of electricity and natural gas. He said there had been a remarkable improvement in the law and order in the country with restoration of peace particularly in Karachi.

He lauded the sacrifices of armed forces, police, civilian officers and the general public for successfully waging war against terrorism during the last one and a half years.

The Prime Minister announced carpeting of all major roads in Kotli Sattiyan and construction of a modern hospital. He said the survey was in progress for building a motorway from Muzaffarabad to Mirpur to Kotli Sattiyan and construction of multiple bridges over the River Jhelum.

The premier asked the people to come up with suggestions for new roads for promoting tourism generating economic activity and creating employment in the area.

Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on the occasion that ever since PM Nawaz Sharif had given Kotli Sattiyan the status of tehsil, local people were reaping the fruits of development. About 90 per cent area of Kotli Sattiyan had been supplied electricity, he added.

He said Nawaz Sharif was the first Prime Minister who visited Kotli Sattiyan and called for discouraging those elements who did not want to see the country develop. He lauded the local chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for organizing the public gathering on a day’s notice.

Punjab Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and Khursheed Satti Advocate also addressed the gathering.
