Imran Khan apologises for women harassment at F-9 Park rally

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has apologised for an unpleasant incident in which women workers were harassed by apparently their male counterparts at the party’s foundation-day rally held at F-9 Park here on Sunday.

In his messages posted on Twitter on Tuesday, Khan said: “I want to apologise to all our women for what happened to them at the Youm-i-Tahsees jalsa in Islamabad.”

He said a committee has been set up to examine what exactly happened at the rally. The committee will also take help from video evidence so that the guilty can be punished, he added.

“We will not allow this to ever happen again & we are ensuring strict measures to protect our women at our jalsas, beginning with Lahore,” said the PTI chief referring to his proposed public rally at Lahore’s Chairing Cross on coming Sunday.

Khan went on to say that in Islamabad ‘crowds were too big and the space too small.’

“In future we will ensure foolproof arrangements so nothing untoward happens.”
