Uzair Baloch spied for Iranian agency: JIT report

KARACHI: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing notorious Lyari gang-war leader Uzair Baloch has completed its investigation and submitted a report to the Sindh Interior Secretary.

The JIT report claims the Lyari gangleader was spying for an Iranian intelligence agency and recommends that the ringleader be tried by a military court.

The report, after its findings, also urged the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to probe the issue of land-grabbing in relation to the culprit.

The JIT, headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Fida Hussain, was formed to interrogate Uzair Baloch on February 15, 2016.

JIT sources earlier said that Baloch had confessed to killing 197 people, directly or indirectly, including the murder of traders of Shershah scrap market.

He had also ordered killing of Haji Aslam, resident of Dalmia area, and his five sons.

He also helped Saeed Jan Baloch to become the chairman of Fisheries Cooperative Society, the sources said, adding that Saeed used to give Rs10 million per month as extortion to Uzair.

Baloch confessed to transferring huge amounts of cash to foreign countries.

There are 65 cases registered in different police stations of the city, against the powerful Lyari gangster who was arrested by Rangers this year.
