IHC grants protective bail to ex-finance advisor Balochistan Khalid Langov

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday approved protective bail of 12 days for former Balochistan finance advisor Mir Khalid Langov.

A two-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah heard the case upon Khalid Langov’s plea. The court, in its ruling, granted protective bail to the accused over bail bonds worth 0.2 million rupees.

The applicant’s advocate Waseem Sajjad said that former Balochistan secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani, in order to save himself, tried to involve Langov in the corruption scandal.

The advocate said Langov is ready to present himself for accountability, adding that his client should be given protective bail. The applicant pleaded that he should be tried in the courts of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Quetta.

Langov had stepped down from his post on May 7 to aid transparent investigations after a huge amount of the ill-gotten money was recovered from the residence of the provincial finance secretary Raisani.

NAB had recovered more than Rs730 million from Raisani’s residence. He has been accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the local government development funds.
