NAB recovers millions in cash, jewelry from Quetta bakery in Raisani case

QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials, in relation to ex-secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani corruption scandal, recovered on Saturday cash worth more than five million from a local bakery in Quetta.

According to the NAB officials, in a tip-off by under-custody facilitator Asad Shah, it raided the local bakery in the Satellite Town area of Quetta. The officials recovered around 5.7 million rupees in cash, gold and property papers from the bakery.

Asad Shah is currently investigation and is the brother of contractor Sohail Shah who was arrested from Karachi.

The NAB officials had recovered more than Rs730 million from the residence of Raisani on May 6 and had taken him into custody. He has been accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the local government development funds.

Raisani, an influential bureaucrat in Balochistan, had been serving as secretary finance for the last few years. Other accomplices Sohail Majeed, Asad Shah and Khaliqabad Assistant Account Officer Nadeem Iqbal were arrested after interrogating Raisani.
