Kashmir issue discussed in NSC meeting presided by PM Nawaz

 

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided the National Security Council meeting on Friday, 60 days after he resumed office on account of his cardiac surgery in London and later an infection in his leg following his return to the country.

The Kashmir issue and Indian atrocities on unarmed civilians were one of the key issues discussed in the meeting which was attended by Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee and chiefs of the three armed forces.

Pakistan condemns the atrocities by the Indian security forces on civilians in occupied Kashmir it was discussed in the meeting, the PM House spokesman said.

“The Indian Army is involved in human rights violation in Kashmir,” the prime minister said.

“Kashmir is not India’s internal issue,” he added.

Sources had said that matters related to the National Action Plan, operation Zarb-i-Azb, and Karachi operation were discussed in the meeting.

Border skirmishes with Afghanistan in the last month were also be discussed in the meeting.

Several high profile ministers such as defense minister, interior minister, federal ministers of the treasury, national security adviser, foreign adviser and others would also attend the meeting.

Hours before the meeting PM Nawaz met COAS Gen Raheel Shareef in a brief meeting where he discussed matters related to homeland security and regional peace.
