Sound of music in Hunza

Soon the Hunza valley will be known for more than just its natural beauty.  The youth of the valley are aspiring to make a name for themselves in the field of music.

60 youngsters the majority of them girls are learning to play traditional instruments at the Pamirian Music School Gulmit Gojal.

“The school is very important to preserve the music and tradition of our culture,” said a female student of the school.

While the school aims to promote music among the younger generation it is also providing a platform for girls in the valley.

“I am very happy to be provided this opportunity to learn and bring my passion forward. Prior to this girls were being neglected and this was common in our culture. But now that I am being given this opportunity, I am not going to stand back and will have to make something of it,” said a female student of the school.

Students at the school are showing a great deal of motivation and with such enthusiasm the sound of music will be heard throughout the valley soon.
