Banned outfit man nabbed in Karachi was plotting terror attacks: report

KARACHI: Fazal Gul, a banned outfit affiliate arrested from Karachi yesterday, was plotting terror attacks in the megapolis, revealed an investigation report.

The suspect, affiliated with outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat chapter, turned out to be a close aide of TTP supremo Mullah Fazlullah, according to the report.

Gul was arrested by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel from Sohrab Goth, a restive neighborhood on the outskirts of Karachi. He was tasked with waging attacks on schools and seizing arms from the law enforcement.

The suspect had attacked a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpost in Char Bagh in which several FC men were killed, along with one of the assailants, read the report. He also bombed house of a local representative upon orders by the TTP chief.

The suspect was also involved in killing of FC personnel in Swat and a number of attacks on security forces and police in adjoining areas.
